Linbeck Recognized in Top 3 in National Safety Award
Linbeck was honored by the Associated General Contractors for their innovative safety initiatives five years in a row. Believing that each person has a responsibility to himself, his co-workers and his employer to prevent accidents and to protect property, Linbeck's safety program is designed to empower all personnel with the ability to make a positive impact on jobsite safety. Highlights of the program include: quantifiable safety goals, established in the firm's annual business plan; site-specific Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA) for every job task to identify and minimize job-specific hazards; a unique Safety Quality Productivity (SQP) task force that manages and administers safety training and performs safety research; and a Safety Assurance Flow Plan that is incorporated into each project's value stream.

"At Linbeck, safety is not an add-on, says President and CEO Charles Greco. It is part of what everyone does every day. Safety is so embedded and ingrained in our culture, that all employees are quick to look for potential safety problems and are empowered to immediately address them." Greco says the firm's safety advocacy efforts improve community relations, lower costs, and assure responsible management practices. This advocacy also defines the parameters when safety, cost and schedule issues conflict, he says.

Excellence in Project Management Award
John Barnes, a Vice President with Linbeck, was chosen to receive an Excellence in Project Management Award from the Houston chapter of Associated General Contractors for his management of the construction of the Texas Heart Institute in Houston.

John was chosen for this honor because of the complexity of the project and his ability to manage such a vast undertaking. The project was one of the most complex heart transplant facilities in the world, requiring constant and consistent levels of communication between two owners, two architectural firms and two engineering firms. John’s responsibilities required coordinating and managing the efforts of the Linbeck team, plus 107 subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment vendors. In addition, a steam line rupture and a natural disaster both struck right in the middle of the project.

"We are fully amazed and awed at the incredible accomplishments John achieved throughout this project,” says Linbeck President and CEO, Charles Greco. “His leadership skills, charismatic ability to create cohesive team efforts, and his ability to make quick, intelligent and creativity decisions under incredible stress attest to the quality of his character and talent. His compassion and passion and sacrificial efforts make him a hero in our eyes.”
