Linbeck: Through the Decades (1968-1978)
Big moves meant bigger opportunities. This decade saw the expansion of Linbeck into the Dallas and Fort Worth markets, and the derliery of projects that mattered for the cities we served. High rises, corporate offices, and advanced hospitals: these facilities dominated our portfolio and introduced new methods for delivering value to our clients—methods that we still use today.
Linbeck: Through the Decades (1958-1968)
The 1960s were an exciting time for Houston. And for Linbeck. A space science building, Rodeo exhibition hall, and luxury high-rise were among the numerous ways Linbeck helped contribute to the city's skyline.
Shuffled within the mix of large, high-profile projects were other Houston mainstays, including several famed Texas-based department stores and a Coca-Cola bottling plant expansion. Cheers to that.
Linbeck: Through the Decades (1948-1958)
After a strong first decade, Linbeck continued serving Houston by satisfying the need for new shopping centers. From the Downtown Woolsworth to the still operational Braes Heights and Braeswood shopping centers, Linbeck's projects dotted Houston's ever-expanding landscape.
The firm also contributed to Texas more broadly, building facilities at Lackland Air Force Base, Kashmere Senior High, Yates Junior College, and many others.

Healthcare Projects Take Home TEXO Titles
At this year's TEXO Distinguished Buiding Awards, two Linbeck projects were recognized for overall construction excellence.
The new Prosper Hospital (Prosper, Texas) placed first in its category, while the new Infectious Disease Unit at Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth was honored with a Merit Award.
Linbeck is excited for this recognition, and even more, we are grateful for our project teams and partners whose hard work and dedication made these successes possible. Through their collective efforts, they are contributing to the advancement of healthcare in the rapidly growing region.
Award-Winning Success: Cook Children's Medical Center Prosper Hospital
Linbeck is thrilled to announce the new Cook Children's Medical Center Prosper Hospital was a Build America Merit Award winner at this year's AGC Annual Convention in Las Vegas, NV.
The low acuity, short-term inpatient hospital spans 249,000 SF and comes complete with numerous exam rooms, prep/recovery rooms, operating rooms, med/surg beds, PICU beds, and the latest state-of-the-art techologies.
As the first hospital for the Town of Prosper , the new facility represents an exciting moment for the future of healthcare in North Texas, as families in the region now have greater access to Cook Children's award-winning care.
Linbeck Projects Honored at AGC Houston Awards Gala
AGC Houston awarded Linbeck with four separate awards at their biennial APEX Awards this fall—two for the renovations at Rothko Chapel and two for the new construction of Brockman Hall for Opera (Rice University). Presented to honor overall construction excellence, these awards demonstrate the skill and dedication that went into completing each project.
While 50 years separate their founding dates, both Rothko Chapel and Brockman Hall for Opera have become integral pieces of Houston's cultural and educational fabric. They are places of artistic expression, contemplation. and conversation. Linbeck is honored to have been selected to complete each of these projects – and we are especially proud of our project teams for their commitment to positively impact our Houston community.
Safety and Sustainability Among Accolades in ENR Competition
Linbeck is proud to announce two of our projects were winners in this year's Engineering News-Record Regional Best Projects competition! Chosen from a pool of 94 projects across 18 categories, these awards testitfy to our continued efforts to build safely, efficiently, and effectively.
Receiving a total of two awards, the South Tower 5th Floor Renovation at Cook Children's Medical Center was recognized with an Award of Merit for Project Excellence, as well as the Excellence in Safety Award for upholding rigorous jobsite safety procedures and maintinaing an outstanding safety record. The project finished-out 30,500 SF within one of Cook Children's core buildings, giving the hospital space to expand its medical services to more patients.
Additionally, Linbeck received an Award of Merit for Excellence in Sustainability for the Campus Landscape Enhancements Phase III project at the University of Texas at Dallas. The 100+ acre beautification project added more than 1,300 trees to the university campus, with major efforts made to preserve existing landscaping.
Three Projects Capture Attention of TEXO
TEXO, The Construction Association honored Linbeck with three first-place awards in their 2022 DIstinguished Building Awards competition: one for the South Tower 5th Floor Renovation at Cook Children's Health Care System, another for the Laboratory Expansion and Clean Room Renovation at Carter BloodCare, and the final for the Campus Landscape Enhancements Phase III at the Univeristy of Texas at Dallas.
While varying in size and scope, all three projects required immense levels of collaboration, ingenuity, and dedication from our project teams. Linbeck thanks TEXO for this exciting recognition, and inspiring us to continue our pursuit of project excellence!
Rothko Chapel Recognized for Preservation Excellence
Following its monumental renovation and restoration, the Rothko Chapel received a Good Brick Award from Preservation Houston at its 2022 Cornerstone Dinner. Founded with the mission to honor and protect the city's historically rich landscape, Preservation Houston awarded Rothko Chapel with the Martha Peterson Award for successfully breathing new life into the 50-year-old space and fulfilling artist Mark Rothko's original vision. Today, Rothko Chapel features a new custom skylight, enhanced interior lighting, and updated structural support that will allow it to stand tall for the next 50 years.
Houston Project Voted Best of the Year
At their 2021 Excellence in Construction Awards, the American Subcontractors Association-Houston Chapter (ASA-HC) awarded Linbeck first place in the $15-$25 Million category for our YES Prep Southside Elementary and Home Office Building project. Nominated and voted on by members of the subcontracting community, this top award is considered an honor for Linbeck, as it illustrates the strong relationships we have maintained with our subcontracting partners, those we consider critical to every project we undertake.
For more than 15 years, Linbeck has partnered with YES Prep Public Schools, standing by their mission to prepare students for college and the professional world--regardless of background or financial constraints. This recent award by ASA-HC is a testament to Linbeck's longstanding commitment to the local institution and those who help lead it. We are humbled and look forward to continuing to build up our communities!
Projects Receive Regional and National Recognition
Engineering News Record recognized two Linbeck projects with a total of four awards in their 2021 Best Projects Awards. Rice University's Brockman Hall for Opera and the University of Texas at Dallas' Sciences Building were each spotlighted by the engineering and construction magazine for their exceptional quality, craftsmanship, and overall execution.
Brockman Hall for Opera took home a regional Award of Merit in the Cultural/Worship category, while the Sciences Building received a regional award in the HIgher Education/Research category, as well as an Award of Merit for Excellence in Safety. In 2022, ENR also honored the Sciences Building with a national Best of the Best Project Award in the Higher Education/Research category, making it one of the top 20 projects across the country.
We are proud to have been part of two projects that continue to make waves in the industry and set a new standard for excellence.
