Description
Situated at the heart of Fort Worth’s cultural district, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth (The Modern) shines as both a home to and example of world-class art. Designed by internationally acclaimed designer Tadao Ando of Japan, the museum is an architectural masterpiece featuring galleries, restaurant, reflection pool, public gardens, and architectural perimeter walls that define the contemplative outdoor spaces. Using a unique double envelope design, the inner structural walls of architectural concrete support large projecting roof planes that are supported by several “Y” columns. To achieve his vision, Mr. Ando required architectural concrete so precise and smooth that it felt liked polished stone. Unable to find subcontractors able to adhere to Ando’s exacting standards, Linbeck self-performed the work incorporating Ultra High-Performance Concrete throughout the project.
