Overview

Linbeck partnered with Gallery Furniture to adaptively reuse a portion of the existing showroom and transform it into a technical high school for students ages 16-30. Located adjacent to the furniture store, the new trade school houses traditional classrooms and features trade shops that prepare students for careers in horticulture, welding, plumbing, and other trades. The educational facility also contains a free daycare to assist Gallery Furniture employees and other students. As part of our safety plan, Linbeck applied a 40-foot-tall firewall that kept the two spaces separate and maintained strict life safety and fire codes. We also retrofitted significant portions of the project, including saw-cutting the concrete, so the new design elements could fit into the existing slab seamlessly.
