Description
Fashioned out of the former Pier 1 Imports Corporate Headquarters, New City Hall was the result of a major renovation and expansion project for the City of Fort Worth. Renovations were reserved for the existing tower, which now contain flexible floor plans for more than 23 city departments and more than 1,000 employees. The expansion was dedicated to building a new Council Chambers building—an intricately designed facility equipped with theater-style seating for 244, sound amplification capacities, broadcast capabilities, and interactive software displays at each of the city council seats. The two-story lobby includes a media room and workroom for all to use prior to council meetings. Along with the renovated tower and new Council Chambers, the project also called for a reconfigured parking garage to accommodate the more than 1,400 staff and visitors, and introduced new outdoor spaces to create a more welcoming, pedestrian-friendly environment.
