Overview

The Moody Center for the Arts at Rice University serves as a platform for creating and presenting art of mixed media. Crafted by California-based Michael Maltzan Architecture, the building is a bold and contemporary interpretation of the traditional university facility. A look from the outside reveals a modular brick building with a “no cut brick” layout and a roof with 11 different elevation levels. Inside, a double-height space maximizes the building’s inflow of natural light, while a museum-grade art gallery, black box, multi-media gallery, studio classrooms, audio visual editing booths, and flexible spaces create an optimal environment for group collaboration, performances, and art exhibitions.
