Description
The Welcome Center at Southwestern University is a new LEED Gold Certified building located across from the new First-Year Residence Hall, also built by Linbeck. Lending credence to its name, the Welcome Center stands as the official gateway into the University for new and/or visiting students, faculty, and staff and features an art gallery, cafe, grab-and-go food station, offices, study spaces, 50-seat theater, and outdoor courtyard with landscaping. One of the most striking components of the new Welcome Center can be found at the entryway, where a bronze version of the University crest is inlaid and infilled with terrazzo. This crest serves as a reminder of the rich history and culture that are built into campus. Linbeck constructed the Welcome Center while also building the new first- and second-year residence halls. All three structures were completed on time and reflect the high quality standards expected of this historic University.
