Overview
The new Science and Engineering Research Center (SERC) was built to support the scientific endeavors of the NEXT Research Alliance (NEXTRA), a consortium made up of Abilene Christian University, Georgia Tech, Texas A&M University, and The University of Texas at Austin. Within the SERC, laboratories, process chilled water, and other vital components will support NEXTRA as they design, license, and build the first university-based molten salt research reactor. In total, the large-scale facility is a combination of mass concrete, structural steel, tilt wall, and masonry.
