Description
Located in the heart of Arlington’s Entertainment District, the National Medal of Honor Museum is dedicated to preserving the stories of America’s Medal of Honor recipients. Designed by international firm Rafael Viñoly Architects, the museum’s Exhibition Hall rises above two military parade grounds on five tapered columns and forms an open-air rotunda at the ground floor level that allows visitors to experience the “weight” of burden that is carried by our service men and women. The ground floor consists of earth berm buildings daylighting toward the Rotunda of Honor and lake, creating a unique atmosphere. Highlights of the museum include 30,000 SF of exciting and interactive exhibition space, state-of-the-art conference and event facilities, a café, theater, outdoor event space, and the Griffin Institute, which is designed to host national leadership programs for high school, college, and corporate America.
