Description
Dating back to 1908, Mood-Bridwell Hall holds the distinction of being the second oldest building at Southwestern University. After determining the 117-year-old wood-framed building was ready for a refresh, Southwestern commissioned Linbeck to oversee its major renovation and restoration. Linbeck completed exterior renovations to the envelope, including the addition of new windows, tuck pointing of the existing brick façade, and a new TPO roof; renovated public spaces; and transformed the atrium into a multi-purpose space with significant A/V components and a dramatic skylight. The project added a new coffee bar and lounge, student collaboration space, and annex structure with a glass curtainwall system. Mechanical and electrical systems were overhauled to meet current performance standards. A full restoration of the iconic rooftop terrace involved incorporating a new structural framing system, pedestal pavers, and roof drains. The terrace is now a welcoming space for various activities.
